tele-scape
I am trying to imagine an extended stadium crowd and the soccer ball - a large and collective behaviour of the crowd, moving along a spherical object.
On the Indian audio-visual map, one would see a set of televisions larger than those of streetlights and windows; switched on and off... browsing, showing fragments of the game with a mixture of other events. Live, one would frequently see people gathered around shops looking for the TV, watching the game from the street.
My experience and understanding of the games these days have a lot to do with such images and sounds. The temporality of my involvement is by contact with fragments of events at various locations. Such involvement and understanding is also defined by a range of tele-experiences, a different sort of accessibility from the stadium.
A peculiar order of such experiences—the television and the architecture—is the main resource material for the composition titled—Tele-scape. It is based on the interaction between two kinds of sound-scapes that are highly inter-dependants. One of them takes the reference from the acoustic/electroacoustic nature of the stadium crowd. The second takes some sort of logic analogous to the movements of the soccer ball.
