Kicking Memories
Football is not just a game. It is a form of entertainment, a multi billion dollar industry, a social event and a great sport.
All around the world, not just professional players, but everyone has a relation with this sport. Whoever we are or from which nationality we come from, nearly all of us have some sort of a memory, related with football: the first goal that we scored when we were kids, or the details of a national match, etc. Even though the languages or the cultures may differ, football is like a universal language.
This piece is about the memories of different people from different parts of the world. On the background, you will hear the sounds of a football match, right from the beginning until its end: the fans’ arrival, the stadium slowly filling up, the players’ heating up, the start of the match, the applause of the spectators, the break, the goals, the final moment and people leaving the stadium. As to the foreground of the piece, you will experience memories and stories told by people in their native languages. These stories and sounds combined with their processed versions will become like a universal audio-football memory and will urge us to ask ourselves this simple question: “what is my first memory related with football?”
