Anton Lukoszevieze/UK

Mindsinger from Signal B. Tree Sounding Herz Song is a a work derived from a film of mine entitled Tree Sounding. The film was a single frame film shot over 2 weeks of a twisted willow tree in my garden in the country, from a fixed position one Winter. The score for the film was made a year later and consists of a drawing of the tree horizontally placed on a sheet of landscape music paper. 5 versions of the score were recorded using the pitches A, E and D. My curved bow (Bach-bogen) was used to sound all the 4 strings of the cello whilst my hand traced the trunk and branches of the tree in a state of revery. Mindsinger is a name I gave myself in some paintings of an artificial language I made, a bit like Max Ernst's bird-self as LopLop. This new soundwork uses the material from the tree film with new material of birds, traffic and the voice of visionary poet Lew Welch talking about cities, etching sounds in space.
